Monday 14 – Friday 18 December, Berry Islands to Nassau, New Providence, Bahamas.

Early Monday morning we headed south towards Nassau. This 35 mile passage involves crossing the Tongue of the Ocean, a piece of water that has to be given some respect in bad weather. We had an uneventful crossing with only one squall up to 25 kts.

We arrived in Nassau around the 15:00 mark after having received permission to enter the harbor from Nassau Harbor Control. We decided to check into a Marina as we had some stuff to take care of shore side and since the holding is reported to be quite average at the anchorage in the harbor.

We are still sailing with buddy boat Dream Seeker and Kevin and Karen are seasoned cruisers with wonderful pearls of wisdom.

We stocked up on the essential items that we were missing such as "looksee" bucket, gaff, more fishing lures, kaliks, rum and fresh veggies, diving gloves, spare bulbs……………

Nassau is a scruffy town but has some neat little bars and pockets of refuge for the weary sailor. Our marina is right across the road from the best stores in town, really handy location for reprovisioning.

Before we head on Monday for the Exuma’s we plan to visit the Aquarium at Paradise Island and Fort Fincastle

  1. Hello dear friends!
Now it's Christmas Eve in Sweden and I'm at my sister's place with parents. The kids are full of adrenaline and have been talking about presents for 3 days but santa will come at 6 o'clock and liberate them from pressure.

I've been following your blog with pleasure and of course I'm envious. But I had my trip a few years ago.

So, whenever you are celebrating Christmas, today or tomorrow.
I wish you a Merry Christmas!!!

    Take care and love!

    Happy birthday to ya
    Haaappy biiiiiiiiirthday...
    Who wrote that song? gubbajävul!

Today you will be 53, but you look like 37,5 years old. How do you preserve youself, guess it's a lot of alcohol and different kinds of treatments like facelifting, cremes, rubbing, peeling, make-up and yoga.

We've been having a great Christmas with a lot of snow, it's been so beautiful, like a postcard. For 2 days we've been out in the sloops riding a sleigh and "pulka", and of course built a snowman.

Don't forget to check your email!

    Take care!

  5. Hi, I hope you had a great x-mas and soon also a HAPPY NEW YEAR. Good job making it so far! We have had plenty of snow in Sweden which makes for a white x-mas. Was out hunting in excellent weather on boxing day.
    Have fun and stay safe!

  6. J&M: HAPPY NEW YEAR! We hosted a glass to the two of you last night as most of the "usual suspects" got together to ring in 2010. Looks like you are just north of Staniel Cay and hopefully enjoying the warm weather. Keep the VHF on! I should be passing by on the 7th in the evening and will call from "Magic Carpet."
We look forward to your next posting... hopefully you will have internet service as you anchor off Staniel. Enjoy the adventure! Miss you guys!

  7. Hola amigos,
Como estáis, parece que estáis como un pajaro muerto!
Wakey wakey, what has happened to you, is it the sun, the drinks or the pirates of the Caribbean that have taken your souls or bodies or abilities to communicate with the world?

On New Years Day we went to a slope with the kids and of course I had to fall on piece of ice (I was sober) and then straight to the hospital to sew around the eye! Que estupido!

I have a friend from Barcelona staying with me for a few days, so I'm practicing all days, que bueno!

Well. well I think 2010 will be a good year. I wish you all the best...!!!

    /Don Bo

Jörgen, in the mapped logg of your trip I can only see the most resent days. Is there a setting to make the whole trip visible?

    /Petter
