Monday 2nd November Charleston, SC mile 469 (66.5 miles)

Up early again and headed out of Gtown 06:30 thru Winyah Bay.

The weather had turned cold and grey day and we were happy to duck into the ICW off the Winyah Bay. Our next gauntlet was the Ben Sawyer Bridge, just north of Charleston. This bridge had been on the forefront of our minds since leaving Norfolk as it was scheduled for closure mid November, due to badly needed repairs. If we had missed this deadline it would require transiting this leg on the journey via the Atlantic Ocean. We managed the 3:00 opening and on we cruised into Charleston Harbor. It was monumental for us to sail (motor) into Charleston Harbor past Battery Point, down the Ashley River where we tied up at the Charles City Marina Mega Dock.
